10 Years and Counting!

It’s hard to imagine The Salt & Light Council (SLC) is entering its tenth year in 2018. SLC was founded to give churches a viable way to engage in the battle between secular and Christian beliefs. Since then, we daily assist congregations, groups and individuals in securing our most effective tools and resources to proclaim the Gospel and push back the darkness.

2017 has been disturbing and exhilarating. In our efforts to enlist church participation through The Salt & Light Council, resistance continues from a misunderstanding of Christian duty in the public square and God-given governmental authority. Excuses include, “I don’t believe it,” I am not political,” and “We only preach the Gospel.”

Yet, the Gospel is no longer being preached. Pollster George Barna recently released a study titled, “Survey: Christians are not spreading the Gospel.”1  Apparently, as we abdicate our mission and our political wills ebb, so does our conviction to boldly and publicly proclaim Christ. The survey shows even parents are decreasingly promoting a born-again, Cross-driven Gospel message to their own children. All the while, parents turn their children’s education to public schools where evils such as Comprehensive Sexuality Education take root.

On a positive note, we are witnessing a deep, never-ceasing commitment to Jesus in those fighting for the Cross. This includes Christian organizations, attorney firms, parents and intercessory prayer groups with whom we regularly collaborate.

Our staff thanks all the Biblical Citizenship Affiliates and everyone who, from day one, has risen to the challenge of ringing in the Gospel message each and every new year. Watching God’s people at work, as He prepares us for what is to come, exhilarates our hearts. Only God knows what is yet in store for 2018, but as long as it is all God, we are all in!

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.. (Ephesians 3:20,21)

But, as the Bible says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no one’s heart has imagined all the things that God has prepared for those who love him.” It is to us, however, that God has revealed these things. How? Through the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:9,10)
